Safety

Zero by Design is simply how we work at Signal Energy and Applied High Voltage. Our goal is 0 safety incidents. We believe safety isn’t something we add later or think about only when something goes wrong. It’s built in from the very beginning; how we plan a job, how we set up a site, and how we make decisions in the moment.

We follow Zero by Design because people matter. Protecting coworkers, friends, and families is at the heart of who we are. It reflects our culture and the way we look out for one another, so everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.

The Zero by Design 12 Safety Essentials

The 12 help us stay focused on the things that can cause the most serious harm. These essentials call out the high-risk activities we deal with every day and set clear expectations for how we handle them. They help us think ahead; spotting hazards early, planning the work the right way, and either removing the risk or reducing it as much as possible. These expectations apply to every project, every job site, and every person on our teams.

The 12 Safety Essentials aren’t suggestions; they are the way we work. They guide how we plan the job, how we perform tasks, and when we stop if something doesn’t look or feel right. Everyone has a role in this. Whether you’re an employee, a subcontractor, or a visitor, you’re expected to understand these essentials and speak up when something isn’t safe. Safety works when people participate, ask questions, share concerns, and learn from each other. That’s how we build trust, strengthen our culture, and stay true to our commitment to Zero by Design

Leveling Up In Safety

At Signal Energy, safety isn’t just a priority—it’s a core value that drives everything we do. We are proud to announce that we have achieved Sapphire Level as a BCSP Certification Champion, marking another milestone in our commitment to fostering a strong and proactive safety culture.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) sets the standard for safety expertise through certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Safety Management Specialist (SMS), and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST). These credentials are recognized globally as a benchmark for safety excellence and achieving them requires a deep understanding of industry best practices, ongoing education, and an unwavering dedication to workplace safety.
